Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool goes directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Oceana County Criminal History does not retain or log those query terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may receive routine technical details about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- The referring site, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine that activity into reports. A browser can block cookies, although parts of the site may then work differently.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Oceana County Sheriff, the 79th District and 51st Circuit courts, Michigan State Police, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party dossiers.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern any information entered there, including retention and sharing. We do not set those practices. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Oceana County Sheriff, court portals, Michigan agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal details.
Advertising partners may also measure activity across sites to select ads. That tracking takes place through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a visitor's chosen query
- Advertising networks serving page ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect data in our control. No internet service is perfectly secure, so a breach-free result cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied such data will be addressed by deleting it.
Your Data Rights
Rights depend on the law that applies to a visitor. Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs public-body records, while MCL 28.728 controls public sex offender registry dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Where applicable law provides a right, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data held about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Ask for deletion where the law permits it
- Decline certain processing when an applicable law grants that choice
